Hey guys! Welcome back. Anxiety is a part of every college student’s life. If you don’t get stressed out at least once you’re not doing it right. College is difficult and can be overwhelming whether you are an extremely anxious person or not. Everyone deals with anxiety differently, but here are a few tips on how I deal with my anxieties.

Recognize what makes you anxious.

This was huge for me. My thing was social situations. I’m not a fan of crowds or public places much. So it’s important for me to know that so I can stay calm in these situations. And once I identified it I was able to work on it and now I don’t get as anxious.

Find ways to treat your symptoms.

In college, especially if you are a residential student, alcohol may seem like a great relief to your stress. In resident halls you can usually find someone with something that will help you forget all about your troubles. But this isn’t safe nor is it the best way. I recommend taking up a hobby or joining a club. Find something that takes your mind off of things while remaining sober.

Eat healthy.

I know this sounds like a drag, but I promise it helps. If nothing else, drink a glass of water. Dining halls also usually have some pretty healthy options. Find some fruits and vegetables you actually like and go off of that. You don’t have to eat broccoli for every meal. It’s really not bad.

Get organized.

A cluttered space makes a cluttered mind and that’s no good for anyone. Keep you room somewhat neat and tidy, keep you planner updated, make out a schedule and a to-do list. All of these things will make your mind a little less jumbled and you will feel better about all of the things you are going to have to do and keep up with.


This is probably the most important one. I’m not going to tell you to sleep for eight hours every night. This is my second year of college and I can tell you from experience that sleeping for eight hours at night isn’t going to happen. And thinking that way isn’t practical. So my advice is to sleep when you can. Sleep at night, but also take naps during the day. Just be sure to set an alarm so you don’t sleep through anything.
