Hey guys! Welcome back. One of the struggles of Fall beginning is midterms begin not long after. I’m more stressed out this semester about midterms than I ever have before. I have found myself craving coffee. I don’t even like coffee. It’s been crazy. I am so ready for it to be over as I’m sure many of you can relate to.
We all know that stressful, uneasy feeling that comes when midterms roll around. Anxiety and distress spread through campus like the flu. Everyone walks around feeling down and tired. There is so much tension and nerves that don’t leave until the tests and papers are over. However, in the midst of it all you have to take a step back and realize that the world is not against you.
First of all, you are going to be fine. It doesn’t seem like it now because you are overwhelmed and exhausted. But when it is finally over and you can sleep, eat, and shower you will feel better. I promise. It’s easy to get caught up in all the work and feel like it’s all piling up and you will never make it through. But you have to remember that it’s not the end of the world and everything will turn out just fine.
Remember the end goal. Remember why you are even here in the first place. College is hard now, but you are struggling for a reason. It’s all going to be worth it. The harder you work, the better off you will be later. So don’t forget that. Keep going and never lose sight of the end. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, even if you can’t see it now. And don’t forget to take care of yourself in the process.
Your grades do not define you. They are important and you should work hard, but not to the breaking point. Remember to eat and rest. They will help you do better. Getting one bad grade is not the end of the world. It happens and you have to accept it.
Remember that you have a support system and people that care about you. You are not alone in your struggles. You have friends and family that want to see you succeed. Midterms may be tough, but with them by your side there is nothing you cannot do.
