Hey guys! Welcome back. About a year ago I deleted Instagram off of my phone. I did it at first because it took up too much space on my phone and I didn’t use it all that much. I would scroll through about twice a day if I wasn’t doing anything else, but I very rarely posted a picture. So deleting the app wasn’t a difficult thing to do. Once I got the space back on my phone (I finally figured out how to do that), I re-downloaded Instagram. I had it for about twenty minutes before I realized I didn’t miss it.

I deleted it again. Every once in a while I go through a phase where I wonder about it, get curious, and download it again. But for the most part Instagram is no longer a part of my life. I don’t worry about posting the “perfect picture”, how many likes I get, or what people think of what I am eating that day. I would rather spend that time doing other things. I think Instagram is a fine idea, but it has taken over people’s lives and time. It just didn’t seem worth it.

In theory, Instagram is a place to share your pictures and your story with the world. But in reality, it has become about being perfect. Everyone filters their pictures. Everyone spends countless hours making their picture flawless, writing the perfect caption, and then waiting to see how many people respond. It shouldn’t be about that. It should be about feeling comfortable and confident enough in the photos you take to share them with the world as is. You shouldn’t have anxiety when you post a picture.

I broke up with Instagram because it just didn’t seem worth it for me. Clearly other people feel differently because it is still one of the biggest social media platforms out there and rightfully so. However, if you think it’s time to break up with any form of social media, maybe you should. Don’t hesitate. I don’t miss anything without Instagram. I am perfectly content without it.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Comment below what your feelings about Instagram and other forms of social media. Which is your favorite? Which do you enjoy for personal use? Which do you prefer for blogging? Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
