Hey guys! Welcome back. Through all of the issues that we face today, very few people have been brave enough to stand up and fight for what is right. There are still people in America that are ridiculed and treated unfairly. There are people fighting for rights and equality. Martin Luther King Jr. was just a step on the path to people being treated fairly. It is a day that should be remembered and celebrated because it led us one step closer to where we want and deserve to be. Martin Luther King Jr. is a man who stood for greatness and the freedom for all individuals.

Martin Luther King, Jr. taught us that the time to stand up for what we believe in is now. Even if it goes against what most other people think. If it’s right, it’s right. Darkness only goes away with light. You can’t fight darkness with darkness. You can’t fight hate with hate. Two negatives don’t make a positive. You have to be willing to fight sometimes to get what you want or what the world deserves. Without Martin Luther King, Jr. the world might very well be a completely different place. We owe a whole lot more than just one day to the man that changed history forever.

Staying silent only allows things to continue as they are. Not standing up is saying that you are fine with the way things are. Not using your voice allows others to take advantage of you. It’s important to use your voice and stand up for what you know is right, even if others don’t necessarily agree. The time is now. You never know when the opportunity will be lost.

If you choose to stay silent, you are letting someone else take over. You should be in control. You should feel comfortable enough to say what you think and take action. We should live in a world where peace is a priority and equality is always given. That is what Martin Luther King, Jr. embodied and represented. He taught us that things affect us whether we want to admit it or not. People are in our lives. The people around us deserve to live the same way we do, regardless of their culture or background. We live in America, a country based on freedom, but not everyone is free. Not everyone lives the same life just because of their history. If you’re not a white male, you aren’t treated as well as if you are.

There is no better time to start speaking up and fighting for what you believe in than now. There is no better way to get what you want than to ask for it. Sometimes you have to be bold. Sometimes you have to speak out in ways that make people question you or not like you. But life isn’t always easy or fair. Things don’t just fall in our laps because we think they should. It takes action and hard work.
