Hey guys! Welcome back. I am introducing a new segment on the blog today called “Coffee Chat”. A lot of other bloggers have similar things on their blogs and I always thought it was a really good idea. Basically what I am going to be doing is talking about broad topics or things that I feel need to be addressed. Since today is Wednesday we are going to be discussing college in all of it’s glory. I am going to give you a deeper scoop into what my college experience is like and my journey to getting where I am. If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments.
College is a time for personal growth for many people. I am no exception. I have learned so much about myself and where I want to go these past few years. I am about to begin my final year of my undergraduate college career, and while I am excited, I am sad that it is coming to an end. But I know that there are bigger and better things waiting for me.
If my college journey has taught me one thing it is that I am much more capable than I ever thought possible. I have learned that I can do so much more than anyone has ever given me credit for. I came into this journey broken and unsure of myself and I will be leaving a completely new person. I am grateful for the paths I have taken because while they may have seemed unconventional, they led me to exactly where I am today and that is all that matters.
I started out at a different college than where I am graduating. I never thought I would transfer schools, but in hindsight, I am glad I did. There was nothing wrong with the school I left, it just wasn’t the best fit for me. The school I am at now is the best fit. Both schools have helped me tremendously and helped develop my character. My Freshman Year was one of growth and change and I will never forget all the people who helped me so much. They will never know how much they truly changed my life. I am glad I transferred schools. It led me to the opportunities I have now and has helped me live out a few of the dreams I had going into school. Both colleges have helped me grow in their own ways and added to my development.
I did take a semester off in the Fall of 2016. It is another thing I don’t regret doing. It wasn’t really a time of big changes, but I did think I needed it. Looking back, it wasn’t a bad choice. It gave me the time to figure things out and work toward my future. I honestly wouldn’t change it. It gave me some clarity and allowed me to refocus. I jumped right into college after what I had been through the summer after I graduated high school. I don’t regret that move because I needed to do it to get out of the situation I was in. However, I also needed some time after everything settled down because I needed to work through my thoughts and feelings. That semester off gave me the time to do that.
College for me is about more than just getting a degree. Yes, that is important, but at the same time, college has given me the opportunity to learn about myself, the world, and what I have to offer it. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and I never take a second of it for granted. There was a time when I wasn’t sure if I would be able to go to college. It was a guarantee. I also know that there are people in the world that don’t have this incredible opportunity.
