Hey guys! Welcome back. I last did a post on how to survive morning classes, so now I want to do a post completely dedicated to surviving evening classes. I have had an evening class before and honestly it’s not that bad. Like everything, there are some negatives, but I want to focus on the positives. I want to give you a complete guide to truly making it through these classes.

Eat before.

Eat before you go. If you have to have an early dinner, do it. You will feel better and more focused. Your mind won’t be on what you are going to have after and honestly when I got out of my class I wasn’t thinking about food because I was still thinking about things that had happened in class. It’s just easier to have dinner beforehand.

Bring snacks.

Yes I know I told you to eat before. But evening classes typically only happen once a week, so they last longer than your typical class. So chances are, you might get hungry again. If not, at least you had something. Also, you might not always have the time to eat before so having snacks is a good way to prevent getting hungry.

Stay hydrated.

Drink water. Always have water. Keep drinking it during class. This will keep you focused and energized during the class. Without water, I don’t know if I would have made it through my evening class. Sitting there for hours was hard enough, but not having a drink would have made it even more difficult.

Take notes.

Nothing keeps you focused and paying attention like writing things down. You are less likely to miss something or dose off if you are actively listening and paying attention. It’s always a good idea to take notes so you have study material for later.

Make friends in those classes.

Knowing people and having friends in classes makes things less boring. You will ave people to keep you company and will make that time seem shorter. You might actually enjoy the class more if you have people that can make it fun and entertaining. You will feel less alone.

Take naps before.

Taking a nap before will help you go to class feeling prepared and focused. You won’t be falling asleep in class or wanting to dose off. You will be ready to get work done. Naps often help people feel ready to be productive.

Wear comfy clothes.

Don’t wear anything that is going to make you uncomfortable because you are going to be sitting for a long time. Wear things that make you feel relaxed. Don’t wear pajamas obviously, but don’t dress up super nice or anything. Make sure you have a lot of room to breathe and relax.

Eliminate distractions.

Put your phone away. Try not to focus on what time it is. Be present in the class and pay attention. Be active in discussions. Don’t watch videos on your computer or talk to the people around you. Know that these classes are important and you need to focus and take them seriously.

Think of the benefits.

You didn’t have to get up super early, you got to do things during the day instead of sitting in class, and it’s only once a week.

Keep up with the homework.

Don’t let it all fall to the last minute. Keep up with it and do as much as you can at a time. It will be less stressful and you will be more successful.
