Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are enjoying your last little bit of summer. I know some people have already started moving back to school, but if you are lucky enough to still be on vacation, I hope you are enjoying it and making the most of it. I know that going back to school is quickly approaching and if you haven’t done this before, it can be scary. College is different than anything you have ever done before and will do in the future. But the things you learn now will stay with you forever. Here are some tips that will help you be successful now so that you can be successful in the future.
No matter where you go to school you are paying to be there. If you have scholarships or something, someone is paying for you to be there. The least you could do is show up. Going to class and paying attention are critical to doing well.
Take advantage of resources.
Talk with your advisor. Go to the Career Center. Go to the Tutoring Center if you are struggling in a class or two. Use what is available to you because it will only strengthen you. It can’t hurt to ask for help if you need it.
Have a balance between your studying, mental health, and physical health. Never let one overpower the others and never let one fall behind. You need a routine that will help you find that balance.
Set reasonable goals.
Don’t set goals that aren’t realistic because the only person you are disappointing is yourself. It’s never going to get done and that’s only going to make you feel bad. Set goals you feel comfortable accomplishing.
One of the worst things you can do for yourself as a college student is let yourself get unorganized. Being organized will help you stay focused and productive. Also, you will feel a whole lot more confident.
Be consistent with your studying and your goals. Make sure you know exactly what you want and how you need to get there. Be consistent in your routine. This will help you reach maximal success.
Take and review your notes.
Take notes in the classes I know you are going to. This will help you in studying, but it will also help you stay focused in class because you have to pay attention in order to take notes. So really there is no reason to not take notes.
Develop a study routine.
Try to study a little everyday so you aren’t stressing at the last minute. Know where the best place to study is and how you like to study. Everyone is different, so you just have to find what works best for you.
Strengthen your writing skills.
You will write in college no matter what your major is, so start learning more as early as you can. Know what you do well and what you need to work on. Being a good writer is going to take you far in life no matter where you go or what you do.
Since you are doing these things and doing them oh so well, you should reward yourself. If you get the A or B you wanted on a paper, it’s good to treat yourself. This way you will be more likely to continue on that path of doing what you need to do so you can get the things you want.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope this is helpful advice. If it is please like this post. Let us know your tips in the comments because we are all still learning. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you haven’t already and I hope to see you next time!
