Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are having a good week. As many of you probably know, I am a strong advocate for self care and mental health in college. It is extremely important to take care of yourself, not only physically (although that is important), but also mentally and emotionally. So today I am going to share with you how to take a Mental Health Day.

1. Allow yourself a Lie-In.

Allow yourself to stay in bed a little extra longer. Whether you are sleeping or wide awake, stay in bed for a little while. Rest is good for you in all aspects of life so laying in bed for an extra 20-30 minutes will do so much good.

2. Turn off social media.

Nothing affects you like social media. It’s not good for your mental health if you are constantly scrolling and comparing yourself to other people. Turn it off and keep it away until you feel ready to go back out there. I promise it will still be there.

3. Make comfort a priority.

Make sure you are comfortable. Wear soft clothing and turn the lights off. Be still and don’t worry about anything going on outside. Allow yourself to relax. Make sure you are not doing anything that is going to cut off or restrict your comfort.

4. Have some comfort food.

If there is any day to indulge, today is that day. Eat what you love and eat what makes you feel good. Don’t worry about anything except being happy and knowing that today is a day for you to take care of yourself and give your mind a break.

5. Plan something relaxed with friends.

If you feel up to it, plan something to do with friends that is going to be relaxing. Maybe you go on a walk, maybe you have dinner, or maybe you just hang out. Whatever it is, keep it simple and relaxing.

6. Devote time to hobbies.

Whether you have a hobby already or need to find one, devote some time to whatever that might be. If you love writing, write something. If you enjoy being creative, make something. Whatever it is give a good amount of time to it today.

After this, your mental health should be complete. Do anything and everything that relaxes you and gets your mind back on track. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this.
