Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I am currently getting ready to head back to school on Monday, so I have been super busy. That’s why I haven’t had as many posts these past few days, but I still have quite a few to get through, so I am going to crank a few out. Today is all about the things I need to be organized during college. Of course not everyone is going to need all of these things and you may find that you need things that aren’t necessarily on this list. Regardless, I wanted to share the things that help me stay organized because I know that it is helpful to see what other people need and use.

The first thing is my planner. I know I talk about this in pretty much every single post, but I am so serious about needing a planner. If you can survive college without one, more power to you. Honestly I think I probably could survive without one, but I also know that it makes my life so much easier. I can write everything down and have a reference point for anything and everything. It’s amazing.

The next thing is something you won’t have until school starts, but once you get it, you need to hold on to it. That is your syllabi. You will generally get a syllabus from every professor for every class. This has class dates, assignments, and all the information you need for that class. Of course your professor will probably upload it to the school portal, but they don’t always, so be sure to keep up with every syllabus you receive.

Your planner will help you exponentially with this next thing. I use my planner to keep up with the month and weeks, but for everyday I make to-do lists. I use Google Calendar to time block, so then I can get out a sheet of paper and make a list of everything that needs to be done for that day. Having a to-do list keeps me focused and guides my day.

The next one is a fun one, I think. In order to truly stay organized with my planner and my to-do list, I like to use colored pens. I like to assign each class a color so that I can keep assignments and due dates clear. Since some of my classes are similar subjects like History or English, I have similar types of assignments. So that color will help me know at a glance which class the due date is for.

This next one is a personal preference, but no matter what you need something to keep your classes separated. You can use binders, I know a ton of people do. I did the first couple of years of college. However, last year I made the switch to folders. They take up less space, but either one gets the job done.

I love leaving myself notes and reminders. It really helps if I have a busy day and need to remember a meeting or a task that isn’t something I ordinarily do on a daily basis. For this, I really like to use a white board. I love white boards because you can write on them and then erase whatever it was. They are pretty inexpensive as well.

The last thing is something I think is super important when you are living in a dorm room. That is storage. I like to have utility carts, drawer organizers, and lined baskets. All of these things help me keep things in place and I know exactly where everything is. It keeps my room neat and tidy and keeps me from going absolutely insane.
