Hey guys! Welcome back. Choosing a college is stressful because how do you know what the right one is? How do you know what to look for? That is why I am writing this post. I want to give you all the things I learned from choosing a college and also why I ended up transferring. Here are some things to look for and also some things I wish I had looked for. All of these things will hopefully help make a decision.
Size of the school. Deciding what kind of school you want to go to is important. Do you want to go to a big school with lots of people or a small school with less people? There are benefits and drawbacks to both, so doing research and making this decision is a significant one to make.
Cost of the school. While you shouldn’t let this completely affect things, it should be a factor. Particularly when you have it narrowed down to two very similar schools. Who is offering more financial aid? Would you be able to get a job? All important things to think about when choosing a college.
Don’t rush the process. If you start now, you will have plenty of time to do your research and find the right fit for you. There is no need to rush anything. This is a very important decision as well as an exciting time.
Go where you want to go. Don’t be a follower. Don’t go where your significant other is going or your friend or your family, unless this is where you want to go. You need to make the best decision for you because it will help you in the long run.
Go on campus tours. The best way to learn about a college and really see it, is to visit. Go on as many as you can and determine from there what the best fit for you is. Visiting is a way to see where you would potentially be living and learning.
I transferred schools because the college I went to, while it is a great school, wasn’t the best fit for me. There were a lot of factors that went into me choosing a college that weren’t in my best interest. So I ended up transferring to a different school and I am still there today. It’s important to keep in mind that you can change schools, but only do it if absolutely necessary.
