Hey guys! Welcome back. Today I wanted to talk about socializing in college. I am an introvert through and through, so socializing in any setting or situation has always been a bit of a struggle. But regardless of whether you are introverted or extroverted, socializing in a new place can be difficult. Having a social life in college is also really difficult because you are already balancing so much. So today I just wanted to sit down and talk to you all about socializing in college and all of the things I have picked up in my almost four years of college.

The first thing is, confidence is everything. I am one of the least confident people in the world, but I know what situations I have to have confidence in. When going into a social setting, if you wait for people to come to you, they may never come. Making friends is about being comfortable with yourself and who you are and going out and making those friends. Not everything is going to just fall into place for you. Wear a smile on your face and let people know that you are friendly and approachable. Have a friendly greeting and how you want to introduce yourself. You could talk about your major, your favorite hobbies, or anything else that you are really passionate about that is a part of your identity. Then others will feel more comfortable opening up to you.

Another thing is to use your location to your advantage. The residence halls, dining hall, classrooms, and work are all great places to make friends. You are likely to find at least one good friend in one of these places if you put yourself out there and are open to the idea. I’m not saying the first time you put yourself out there it will work out, but the more you try, the more likely you are to make friends and feel more comfortable about socializing with others.

Always be yourself. Pretending to be someone you’re not will attract the wrong kind of friends. Stay true to who you are and know that you are worthy of the right kind of friends. Nothing worth having comes easy, so remain true to yourself and you will be able to socialize with the right kind of people. If you feel like you are trying to force a friendship or you have nothing to talk about, they probably aren’t the people you should be trying to socialize with.

Don’t be afraid. It may not always work out and it may take some time to feel truly comfortable with socializing. But the more you put yourself out there and practice, the easier it will become. With the right kind of people by your side you will thrive in college and leave a well-rounded, confident individual. Don’t settle for anything less than that. College is full of so many amazing opportunities and it’s so much better when you have the right kind of people by your side. Never forget that.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Comment below your thoughts on socializing in college and any questions you might have. I would love to hear from you all. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
