If you are anything like me, you live a pretty hectic life. Honestly it can be pretty stressful at times. But I always remember why I started and that helps me when I am trying to juggle it all. It’s not always easy, and it’s definitely not always fun. But remembering why I am doing it all keeps my going. Always remember that stress is an inevitable part of life. It’s how you handle it that is the most important thing.
If you start getting too stressed and overwhelmed, try time-blocking your schedule. This will help when it comes to having so much to do and feeling like you don’t have enough time. Devoting time to each task on your mile long list will help you visualize your day and see that you have more time than you think. I personally love using Google Calendar because it is easy to use and I can get reminders on my phone. It’s also already installed on every device I own, so it’s super convenient.
Another thing that might help you and make your hectic life a little easier is decluttering. Declutter the parts of your home that are bothering you the most. This will help you get your mind off of that mess and focus on something you actually need to focus on. This will give you more time and help you relax. You will feel calmer and have a more productive work space.
Take everything one step at a time. Focus on the steps rather than the whole picture. Focusing too much on the end result is overwhelming because it makes you think you will never get anything done. Simplify your life by taking everything one step at a time and allowing yourself to enjoy the process. Live and learn as you go and try not to become too overwhelmed by things that are inevitable. Just keep going.
Another thing that might be helpful is to make plans with others to do something that is not work related. Spend time with yourself and enjoy time with others. Make this a habit once a week and you will see that you will be less stressed. You will find time to take care of yourself and realize that you don’t have to work all the time. You are allowed to enjoy yourself and have a good time.
One of my favorite tips is to spend time outside everyday. Breathing the fresh air and spending time in the sunshine is a great way to relax and calm yourself. It is such a great way to spend an afternoon after a busy day of doing all of your work. Spending an hour a day outside is a great way to calm your mind and refresh.
Another thing that will help with a hectic life is making sleep non-negotiable. I always make sleep a priority because I know if I don’t I will not perform my best the next day. So if I want to get things done and perform at my most proactive, I know I need sleep. Try not to make excuses for staying up late and get some rest.
Learn to say no. You are one person and you can’t do everything. Learn to say no to certain tasks and to people if your to-do list is already full. Keep reminding yourself that you are allowed to decline a request. You don’t have to give people excuses or reasons. No is enough. If you can’t do something, don’t overload yourself. It’s just adding to the chaos and you don’t need this.
Try to enjoy yourself. Take a bubble bath, watch your favorite show, go to the gym. Do the things that truly make you happy. You may have a hectic life, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. Allow yourself to spend some time every day enjoying your time and do some self care.
