Hey guys! Welcome back. As someone who tends to take on more than I should, I know how difficult it is to find balance and keep everything together. Between blogging, college, creating content, working, and self-care it seems like a never-ending race. Though balance is something I am always striving for, it can be really difficult with a full schedule. I had to learn the hard way how to create my own balance and I still do most days. It’s not something that will happen over night, but here are some reasons you might be struggling to find balance in your life.
1. You don’t know what balance means.
It’s different for everyone. Balance for me is not the same as it is for you. Figuring out what balance means to you and what you need to balance will help you start creating more balance and structure. Until then, you might struggle because you don’t know what balance means and why you need it. Start with writing down what it means to you and write down all the things you need to balance. Then you can go from there.
2. You aren’t practicing self-discipline.
Without having self-discipline, you aren’t going to have balance. If you aren’t forcing yourself to spend the time you have wisely, you may not find structure and balance. Instead of binge-watching Netflix, tackle that task on your to-do list you have been putting off. In order to do anything, including striking a balance, you need control and self-discipline. Reduce distractions and get your priorities straight. Set personal boundaries and get started.
3. You are not being consistent.
Things need to be routine in order for them to be habit. So if you want to find balance, start having routines. Know what you will do everyday. Consistency is one of the most important parts of balance, even if it might not seem like fun. It is the foundation for finding a balance. Being consistent with your actions helps you stay focused and helps you keep up with the balance.
4. You don’t plan.
Planning your daily and weekly schedules are essential to having balance. I love using Google Calendar because it allows me to see my day and week (and even month) all at once. I plan out my day with my different calendars for things like routines, class, work, and studying/assignments. Everything has a different color so I can see exactly what I need to be doing at a specific time. This helps with balance because I can give myself set times to get everything done.
5. You aren’t taking care of yourself.
You need to take care of yourself if you want balance. Not sleeping, eating properly, and taking care of your physical and mental health is detrimental to your balance. If you aren’t taking care of yourself, you won’t be as focused and prepared to get things done. So make sure you are taking care of yourself and balance will come so much easier. You will feel better and your days will run more smoothly.
