Hey guys! Welcome back. I don’t know about you, but I am a chronic procrastinator. I tend to put a lot of things off until the last minute. It seems very unlikely that I get things done, but I do. I have found a few tips that help me procrastinate because if we are being honest, it’s probably not likely to change. If you are also a procrastinator, you may find it helpful to know that you don’t have to change who you are. Instead, you just have to figure out how you can embrace it. So here are my tips.

1. Stop comparing yourself. You are wasting even more time by comparing yourself to other people. Don’t let yourself get bogged down with what everyone else is doing. You have to understand that you work differently, and that’s okay. As long as it gets done, you are allowed to have that freedom. You are allowed to see things from a different perspective. Just let yourself have the time you need and it will all work out. Don’t worry about anyone else’s pace. Just enjoy your own ride.

2. Power hours. I find that power hours are extremely helpful. I have talked about them several times in the past, but when it comes to procrastination, it is extremely helpful to have these hours. Power hours are when you turn on the timer and you spend one hour getting as much done as you can on one thing. Whether it’s cleaning your house, working on a project, or anything else you need to get done, devoting one hour is beneficial. You would be surprised at how much of something you can get done if you spend one hour on it with no distractions.

3. Assess the people you are spending time with. Are the people around you motivating you or distracting you? You need to have at least one person in your life that motivates you to get things done. The more the better. We get distracted far too easily these days, so it is important to find people who encourage you to get things done when you need to.

4. Do it when you feel it. If you have a list of things to do and there is something on that list that you genuinely want to work on, forget the things that come before it. Focus on that one thing. Because if you try to do the other things on the list, you will lose the spark and you won’t want to work anymore. Priorities are important, but so is progress. If there is something that needs to be done and you want to do it in that moment, just do it.

5. Stop overthinking. I do this way more than I care to admit. I am constantly overthinking things and making them seem more difficult than they actually are. If I just sit down and start working, I realize that it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. I constantly overthink everything I have to. I spend more time worrying about that getting in done. In reality, it really doesn’t take that long.

6. Treat yourself. I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement. When you get something done, reward yourself. It’s only fair. This way, you are more likely to keep going and get more done. It’s a great way to motivate yourself and get things done. Don’t be afraid to treat yourself when you accomplish things. You deserve it.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know in the comments if you are also a procrastinator and what your tips are. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

  1. Power hours are everything! They motivate me and I allow myself to break after that time to clear my mind and when I return to my work I am re-inspired and often I notice a bigger picture in which I may have been overlooking prior.
