Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are having an excellent week. Today I wanted to talk about ways that you might be blocking your own success. Without realizing it, we sometimes stand in the way of our own success. Our excuses become our truth and we stop working towards what we want. So I wanted to share with you five ways that you might be blocking your own success even if you don’t realize it.

1. You envy other people.

Envy is one of the biggest thieves of joy and success. When you start comparing yourself to someone else and wishing you had what they have, you start to lose sight of yourself. You stop being grateful for where you are and what you have. Instead of envy, try admiring people. Look up to them and see what they have accomplished to get where they are. Understand that everyone is different and that their journey is not the same as yours. However, they probably did work hard and struggle at times. Envying people blocks success because you lose sight of your own accomplishments and goals. Admiring people inspires success.

2. Focusing on what you don’t have.

More often than not, instead of focusing on what we have, we focus on what we don’t have. We think about not having enough money, not having the perfect body, not having our dream house. We focus on what we could have instead of working on getting there. This blocks success because you are too busy focusing on the negatives instead of working towards the positives. If you want success, you have to focus on getting there instead of focusing on why you’re not there yet.

3. You put too much pressure on yourself.

I believe that we often put too much pressure on ourselves. We push ourselves to our very limits and don’t give ourselves a break. Putting so much pressure on yourself blocks success because you aren’t giving yourself the time and energy to really succeed at anything. You are too busy worrying about quantity than quality. Working on one goal at a time allows you to work sufficiently and give it your all. Otherwise, you will never fully feel satisfied and successful.

4. Your goals are too broad.

One of the biggest issues that I used to face is I had too many goals and they were all too broad. This blocks success because there is no real action plan. I’m not working toward anything specific. It’s just goals floating out there waiting to be grasped. So I had to start being specific. Instead of saying, “I want to grow my audience”, I started saying, “I want to gain ten new followers this month”. Having specific goals and focusing on one at a time allows me to accomplish what I want to in a more realistic approach.

5. You don’t think there is enough time.

If you start thinking you don’t have enough time, you will allow yourself to be talked out of whatever you are trying to accomplish. It always seems like there is never any time, but how often do you use that as an excuse? How often do you allow yourself to put something off because you think you don’t have the time? Instead of thinking this way, figure out ways to make time. Figure out what you are spending time on that could be spent working towards your goals.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know in the comments how you prevent yourself from blocking success. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

  1. I definitely know I’m putting too much pressure on myself at times,,, it’s been something I’ve worked on for a long while now. I think it’s super important to remember to step back though, and especially to have specific goals. I was a bit lost with motivation when I didn’t have a narrower goal, and since I’ve gotten a clear path, it’s been much easier. Great post! ^_^
