Hey guys! Welcome back. A couple of weeks ago I shared the news that I am getting married. And one of the questions I have had quite a bit is how I knew in such a short amount of time that he was the person for me. I just wanted to answer the question in it’s own post that way if people wanted to know they can read and those who aren’t interested don’t have to. But if you are interested, keep on reading.

The first thing I will say is that my parents have never met anyone I have dated. I always told myself that I would introduce my parents to the person I was going to marry. But that wasn’t exactly the case this time. The first time we met my parents were also there. So that was a big sign from God that he was the person for me. Either that or my plans just didn’t matter.

But the more we talked and the more I saw him, the more comfortable I was. And I’m usually pretty skiddish around guys. I’ve never been super comfortable, but with him there are no issues. I am able to be myself around him and that’s a pretty big deal. I am super self-conscious so I needed to find someone that liked me for me. I’m not ashamed of who I am when I’m with him.

He also supports my dreams. That’s a big deal considering I have some pretty strange dreams. But I know that he will be by my side supporting me every step of the way. So it helped me know that he is really in it and I can trust him no matter what. He doesn’t try to stop me or hold me back. Actually, he is a big motivating factor so he is actually really helping me.

He loves spending time with me. And that is a big deal because I’m not a very interesting person. I mean I am a creature of habit. I like doing the same things all the time and he is okay with that. So it’s a really big deal to me to know that he’s not going to get bored and he is also okay if I decide I want to do something different.

Another huge thing that was really important is my sister likes him. She doesn’t talk to anyone the first time she meets them, but she talked to him with no problem. That was a big sign that something was right and I had found my person. She approves of him and really enjoy being around him.

He actually enjoys getting to know me. Even the not-so-great things. I mean my past has some hard moments and we have had some pretty heavy conversations. But that didn’t scare him off or make him cringe too much. It helped us connect even more and I learned to really let him in and trust him. He got to know me and I got to know him. He remembers the things I tell him and takes note of the things that I like. He accepts me for who I am and doesn’t expect me to be perfect.

Another big thing is that we can talk about anything. I don’t feel like I can’t share my interests and I don’t make him feel like he can’t share his. We talk about everything and we genuinely enjoy communicating with one another. One thing I learned from my parents is that communication is important. I didn’t want a partner that I felt like I couldn’t communicate with.

When making a decision I prayed a lot. During the first part of June I was struggling with a lot of anxiety. There were so many things going on and I was struggling with so much. So one day I decided to pray until God provided me with an answer. And finally He did. He showed me that this is the person I am supposed to build a life with. This person will show me the love that I deserve and help me build the family that I have always wanted.

And that is how I knew for sure that I had found my person. It may not be the most exciting story, but it’s so meaningful to me. Thank you to everyone for all the kind words. It means so much that I get to share this chapter of my life with you. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did.
