Hey guys! Welcome back. Today I wanted to talk about something that I think we could all be a little better about, and that is building good habits. I know that I am still a work in progress and if you are here, you probably are as well. So today I want to share with you five habits that I have built that have helped me see significant growth. Hopefully these will help you and give you the inspiration you need to build these or other habits. But it’s up to you to put in the work.
1. Stop making excuses.
Excuses will be your best friend if you let them. And it’s never a great position to put yourself in where you are always making excuses. One of the biggest things that helped me really improve my life was to stop making excuses so often. It still happens, but I’m not perfect, however, working on making less excuses and owning up to my shortcomings has helped me grow so much.
2. Be grateful.
Another thing that has helped me so much is to be grateful for what I have. Instead of focusing on all the negative and all the things that are going wrong, it is important to try to focus on the positive. It is always great to make sure you are acknowledging what you have and recognizing the blessings because the negatives can really work against you, so stay strong and recognize all the good around you.
3. Don’t be afraid to focus on you.
If you are anything like me, you probably spend a lot of time worrying about other people and wanting them to be happy. But it is important to remember that it’s okay to focus on yourself. In fact, it is necessary to take care of yourself and make sure that you are keeping up with what you need. Because if you are trying to take care of people when you have nothing left to give, you may end up failing everyone.
4. Accept what you can’t control.
Coming to terms with the fact that I cannot control everything around me is one of the most challenging things I have ever done. However, I learned that accepting things and understanding that not everything will go the way I want it to has helped me stress so much less and have so much less anxiety. So I really challenge you to work on accepting things and knowing that some things are beyond your control and that’s okay.
5. Let go of regrets and past mistakes.
Holding on the past and keeping it in your heart can cause a lot of stress and worry that doesn’t need to be present. Therefore, letting go and moving forward is the best way to go. You can’t change the past. You can only try to be better in the future. You can only focus on where you are and where you want to go. No one is perfect, so stop beating yourself up.
