Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are enjoying this fresh week in a fresh month. Today I wanted to talk about something I get requested to talk about a lot. After my break up several people messaged and emailed me asking me to give advice on how I bounced back after ending my long-term relationship. And the truth is, no matter who it is or how long you have been in a relationship, it still hurts. So today I wanted to share with you how you can find your confidence after a break up.

Allow yourself to grieve the relationship.

You would think after each break up it would get easier. But the truth is, every relationship is different. It is important to allow yourself to have some time to grieve your relationship and come to terms with the fact that it ended. How you do that is up to you, but it’s important to have that time. It’s important to know that just because the relationship didn’t work out does not mean you failed. It means you weren’t meant to be with that person and you just need time to heal.

Create a space for healing and understanding.

Take some time for yourself. It might be tempting to jump into a new relationship and while that’s not a bad thing, it may be beneficial to take some time for yourself. Pamper yourself and engage in some healthy self care practices. Let yourself sleep and rest. Take long baths and showers. Get your nails done. Do things for yourself. Spend some time reconnecting with yourself. Reflect on who you have been and who you want to be. Find a way to bridge the two.

Surround yourself with close friends and family.

When I went through my break up there was nothing quite like having friends and family around to help me get through it. They helped me understand why it was important and why it really was a blessing. It was not an easy time, but having people around that truly care about me and want the best for me really helped me bounce back a lot quicker than I otherwise would have. Find people you can lean on during this time and talk it out with them. I promise you will find peace.

Dress the way you want to feel on the inside.

It is really tempting to stay in your room in pajamas and watch Netflix for days at a time after a break up. However, it will take longer to heal and move on if you do that. It’s important to get up, dress up, and put yourself together in a way that you feel confident. Get your hair done, get your nails done, buy a new outfit, or whatever you need to do to feel the way you want to feel on the inside. Show up for yourself. Don’t sit in your room and hide. Go out into the world and start bouncing back. Fake it until you make it.

Conquer the things you once put aside.

Start tackling the things you put aside either while you were in a relationship or before. Whether it is a hobby you set aside, your workout routine, or anything else that was once a big part of your life, pick them up again. Use the time that you were devoting to another person to conquer the things you want to do. Focus on new projects that help you feel accomplished and powerful. Build up your self-worth and spend the time doing what you want.

Be mindful of your thoughts.

After going through a break up it can be easy to be hard on yourself and put yourself down. If you start allowing yourself to have negative thoughts it will be hard for you to build your confidence and self-worth after a break up. So it is essential that you stay mindful of what you are thinking and engage in healthy and positive thoughts. Write down daily affirmations and keep working on being positive. Push away the negativity and be more positive.

Be kind to yourself.

There is absolutely no reason to not be kind to yourself. There is no reason to punish yourself for going through a break up. It’s difficult enough as it is, so just be kind and know that you are not alone. Just because the relationship didn’t work out does not mean there is something wrong with you or that you did anything wrong. It just means that you weren’t meant for that particular relationship. So just be kind to yourself and be patient with everything.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you find this helpful. Please like it if you did. Let me know in the comments what you would like to see from me next. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
