Hey guys! Welcome back. Today I wanted to talk about something I have been struggling with lately. And that is being overwhelmed. With the end of the semester looming over, graduation coming quickly, and everything I am trying to balance and manage, it has been pretty difficult. So I wanted to share with you some of the things that have really helped me fight off the overwhelm and still get things done. These are things I do when I need to get things in order and figure out how to stress less, but still be productive. Hopefully this helps you as well!

1. Check your mindset and expectations.

When I get overwhelmed the very first thing I do is check my schedule and my calendar. I try to remove anything that doesn’t necessarily need to be done right away. I make time for the other things so I don’t feel as rushed. I spend time tackling each task on my to-do list so I can cross things off. I remind myself that I don’t have to do everything at once and it is unrealistic to think that I can. It is best to just accomplish one thing at a time.

2. Set the right goals and plan accordingly.

When it comes to setting goals, I try to have a mix of professional and personal goals. And then I make a plan for how I can reach those goals. It just helps me stay on top of everything and know that I am working towards something. When I am overwhelmed I look at my goals and try to remember why I am working so hard. I also remind myself that there is a plan and it will work out the way it is meant to work out.

3. Brain Dump.

Another thing that I really try to do when I am overwhelmed is brain dump. I write down what I am thinking, things I am struggling with, and things I need to do. This allows me to get it all out so it’s not bottled up in my brain. I am able to put down any ideas that I have. I give myself time to work through everything. This helps me empty my mind and move forward.

4. Learn to say “no” more often.

Something that I really struggle with is saying no. I try to help everyone and do everything that I can, but that leads to me being really overwhelmed. So I really try to say no if I know that I cannot do something or if I have too much on my plate already. This helps keep me from being stressed too much and feeling like there is no end in sight. It helps minimize my to-do list.

Remember your “why” daily.

Like I mentioned before, I really try to always remember why I am doing what I am doing. It helps me stay focused and keep pushing towards my goals. Being overwhelmed means that I am working hard and doing my best. And even though sometimes I know I have to slow down, it helps to know that I have a purpose and that I am working hard to keep going.
