Things To Do When You’re Stressed

Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are having a great week so far. Today I wanted to do something a bit more laid back and share with you some things you can do when you are stressed. Because let’s face it, we all get there. There are points where we get stressed and sometimes we need a reminder that it’s normal and there are things we can do to help feel better. So I wanted to share some of those with you.

Write a list of priorities.

Sometimes we get stressed because we start thinking about everything we have to do and it can get pretty overwhelmed. So it’s important to take some time to focus on the most important things. Write down the three biggest things you need to do and start with focusing on those.

Take a step back and breathe.

Sometimes it can help to not do anything. When I get stressed it can be really helpful to just take a few minutes to sit back and literally do nothing. It’s not easy for me because I am very action-oriented, but it is really helpful because I relax and it calms me down so I feel less stressed.

Talk to someone.

When you get stressed and overwhelmed, it is important to remember that you are not alone. It can be easy to isolate yourself and stay away from everyone, but it can be extremely beneficial to reach out to someone even if they are just there to listen. You might be surprised at how helpful it is.

Break large tasks into smaller tasks.

Sometimes we get overwhelmed because we have a huge task or project that we aren’t sure how to tackle. So it can help relieve some of the stress if you make a plan and get organized. Make the large task into smaller tasks that are much more manageable and then you might feel a little better.

Go for a walk.

Sometimes it really is the simple things that help us relieve the most stress. So if you are stressed or overwhelmed, go for a walk. Whether it’s a long walk or just a walk around the block, it can help. It might help you clear your head and refocus so you can actually get things done.

Take a warm bath or shower.

There’s nothing quite like a nice bath or shower to help you feel refreshed. There is something about it that helps you feel like you have a fresh start. It’s a clean slate. So when the stress gets to be too much, just start fresh with a cleansing bath or shower. It helps a great deal.

Write it out.

Writing out what you are feeling, what you are going through, and what you are struggling with can help because you aren’t holding it all in. If you don’t want to share it with someone else or you can’t reach someone right away, try simply writing it out. It can help you clear your head.

Watch something funny.

It can really help you feel better if you watch something that you enjoy. Whether it’s a TV show, a movie, or even a YouTube video, watching something that makes you laugh can really help you relieve some stress, even if it is only temporary. It can still help you refocus and get yourself together.

Plan ahead.

If you are stressed because you just have too much to do and can’t figure out what to do next, start planning ahead. Figure out your priorities and then start planning when you need to do things and when things need to be done. Once you have a plan you will at least know what is going on and you won’t feel as frazzled.

Listen to your favorite songs.

Music really does heal the soul, so I believe that it can also have the power to take away some stress. There are so many songs, artists, and genres out there that can help you. So pick your preference, make a couple of playlists, and then whenever you are stressed you have something to turn to.

Pamper yourself.

I was hesitant to put this on this list because it’s literally the number one tip when it comes to stress, but it’s number one for a reason. Pampering yourself is great because you are doing something for yourself that you enjoy. And there is no reason not to do that if you feel as though you need it.

Eat your favorite comfort food.

Within moderation of course. Don’t eat so much that you feel even worse. But eating your favorite comfort food will do just that, comfort you. So whenever you are stressed, try to have something on hand so you can enjoy your favorite meal or dessert. It will help you feel a bit better.

Read a book.

There is nothing like leaving the world that is stressing you out and entering into a completely different world. So when you are stressed, take some time to sit down and read the book you never finished, your favorite book, or the book you have been meaning to read forever.

Just say no.

If you are stressed and overwhelmed with everything you are doing already, there is no point in adding more things for you to do. So just say no. You don’t even have to explain why you can’t do it. Just reply with a no unless you need to give an explanation at work or something.

Get creative.

I believe that everyone has something creative that they love doing. It could be cooking, baking, drawing, painting, fixing or making things, or a myriad of other things. So figure out what yours is and use that as an escape when you are stressed or overwhelmed. I promise it will help.

Exercise.

And finally, we have the one that isn’t everyone’s favorite but really is beneficial. Working out and moving your body can really help you blow off some steam and release some of that stress. So even if it’s just a quick work out, allow yourself some time everyday to get some movement in.
