Should You Share Your Goals With Other People?

Hey guys! Welcome back. So if you have been around for a while you know that every month I share my goals for the upcoming month. I have been doing it pretty much every month for the past year at least. It is something I like doing because I am able to share what I am working on and how I am striving to be a better version of myself. But over the past couple of weeks I have been thinking about something and I wanted to share that with you today.

So I share my goals with you guys every month. Some of you really enjoy that and others aren’t the biggest fans. And that’s okay. Being a blogger, I know that is going to happen. But I started thinking a few weeks ago about how much I should share. Really how much we should all share. What goals should we share with other people? Is it a good idea for me to share my monthly goals with you every month? Well that is what I am going to talk about with you today.

In regards to me sharing my monthly goals with you at the beginning of every month, just know that I do not anticipate stopping that anytime soon. However, I am going to talk about the bigger goals and what I am sharing and what I am not sharing. Because I think it’s important to have some boundaries and know what they are. So as I was thinking about if we should share our goals, I realized a few things that I thought would be valuable to share with you. Of course you have your own mind and you are allowed to share however much or little you wish to share. These are just my thoughts.

So I do have some pretty lofty goals. I have shared some pretty big goals that I have set and it’s okay because I know they are things that I can accomplish and things that I am actively working on everyday. However, there are also some goals that I have that I am not sure I can accomplish and even though I work towards them, I don’t want to share them out of fear of never actually getting there. So I guess what I am trying to say here is that I share the goals with you that I know I am working towards and things that I feel will be valuable in someone else’s life. I share the goals that I share in hopes that I can inspire some of you or help you in some way.

But the more personal goals I keep to myself because they are for me. There are things that I need to work on and that I need to be better at. And if I ever reach these goals I will likely share them with you. I will likely share what I did and what I learned. But I don’t feel as though I can do it honestly and authentically until I have been through it and I come out on the other side knowing that I have accomplished these goals that I have. I think there are some things that we just have to keep to ourselves. There are some things that I want that I am not comfortable saying, “I’m going to do this.” because I would rather say, “I did this.” I have some goals that just aren’t ready to be told yet. But I believe that those stories are coming.

So I encourage you in all of this to be mindful of what you are sharing and what you keep to yourself. Because some people will offer unwanted criticism and want you to believe that it is advice. It’s only advice if you ask for it. Otherwise, it’s not needed. So I just want to encourage you to be careful of what you share and who you share it with because once it is out you can’t take it back. It’s out forever. Whether it’s sharing it with a friend or family member who will tell everyone they know or you put it on the internet, just mind mindful of who might see it or hear it. Your goals are yours to share or not share and it’s up to you to decide if you want to share them.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
