Ten Things People Don’t Understand About You Because You’re An Introvert

Hey guys! Welcome back. I am a super introverted person and I know that there are many times that others haven’t been able to understand certain things I do or certain qualities I have. And it all stems back to the fact that I am really introverted. Being an introvert is not a bad thing. For a long time I struggled with thinking there was something wrong with me for not being more outgoing, but the truth is there isn’t anything wrong with that. I am who I am and that’s okay. So today I wanted to share a few things that you might be able to relate to if you are an introvert and you feel that sometimes people don’t always understand you.

1. You don’t answer phone calls.

In fact you try to avoid talking on the phone as much as possible. If you don’t absolutely have to answer the phone call, chances are, you’re not going to. Introverts are more inclined to send text messages and emails before they talk on the phone. It’s just our preferred method of communication.

2. Leaving places early.

When it comes to parties, gatherings, and even just hanging out with friends, people don’t always understand why some of us always leave early. And it’s really because we are introverted and we just don’t get a lot of enjoyment out of spending a ton of time with a bunch of people.

3. Being selective about who you spend time with.

As an introvert you are naturally more selective about who you are friends with, who you are dating, and who you spend your time with. You don’t want to be around too many people and you don’t feel like you need a super large support system. You just need a few people who you know you can really depend on.

4. The way people drain your energy.

People who aren’t introverted don’t always understand when introverts say that being around a lot of people for extended periods of time drains their energy. But it is true that we can’t be around people for a long time without starting to feel tired and needing to be alone to recharge.

5. You’re naturally more reserved.

I can’t tell you the number of times that I have been told I’m “too quiet” and I need to “talk more”. The truth is I’m just naturally a quiet person. I don’t feel the need to talk a lot and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. As an introvert I just don’t feel the need to be open with a lot of people.

6. You prefer a one-on-one conversation.

If you are spending time with someone and having a conversation, you prefer to be just you and the other person. Sometimes you get stuck being with other people, but you don’t engage in the conversation as much as you would if there was just one other person. You just feel more comfortable in a more intimate and private setting.

7. You stay home more than you go out.

Your idea of a perfect night is staying at home, ordering some really great food, and watching a move or reading a book. You don’t really enjoy going out and hitting the town with all of your friends. Staying home sounds way more fun and you would enjoy yourself more on your own or staying in with friends than going out.

8. Having trouble expressing your thoughts and feelings.

You know how you feel and what you want to say, but you just can’t find the words to express it. It’s a struggle that introverts sometimes face because we just aren’t as used to being open and sharing with a lot of people. So sometimes people don’t understand why we have such a hard time in this area.

9. Getting lost in your thoughts.

Even though you aren’t really great at expressing your thoughts and feelings, you get lost in them quite a bit. You can usually be found zoning out and daydreaming. You like to get lost in your thoughts and emotions because it makes things easier to process and helps make more solid decisions.

10. You are seemingly awkward.

Because you don’t really engage in small talk, you are selective about the people you choose to spend time with, and you aren’t all that great at expressing your thoughts and feelings, you sometimes come across as awkward to other people. And whether you are awkward or not, you find yourself having to explain a lot.

And those are ten things you might be able to relate to if you’re an introvert. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. 1. All of these are me!! I am definitely introverted… but then also I can be socially and extrovert… only surfacely – I have an outgoing friendly personality… but myself I am actually introvert.
