Hey guys! Welcome back. Today I decided to take you into my life even more and share with you how I am planning for a new month. July is almost here and there are a lot of things happening this month, so I feel it is best to sit down and create a game plan. So why not sit down and share it with all of you while I do it? Today I am showing you the outline of how I plan out my month. And I know that I can’t plan everything and things don’t always go according to plan (this month taught me that), but having some kind of game plan always helps. So here is how I plan my months.
Grab My Bullet Journal
With the start of a new month I always grab my bullet journal because it’s the notebook I always have and is used for life planning. So I grab that and open up to a brand new page to get started. I always make a cover page for a new month with some fun drawings and little quotes and things. It’s just a way for me to personalize everything and have some fun with my bullet journal. Once I have that done I make separate pages for the following items:
1. Goals for the month.
At the start of every month I set goals for myself. I share them here on the blog in my Monthly Favorites & Goals post (which will be up tomorrow). Having goals helps me stay on track and have things to work towards throughout the month. It’s helps me have some guidance as to what I want and need to accomplish.
2. Bucket list for the month.
Along with goals, there are always some fun things that I want to do or want to try. So when I have to plan for a new month I write some of these things down. It’s a fun way for me to see what kinds of things I want to try or want to do and do as many of them as I can. It’s just good fun for me.
3. Recipes I would like to try.
This will be more prevalent when I move into my own apartment, but it’s still something I would like to include. I love cooking and baking, so this seemed like a really fun thing to put in. It allows me to keep up with things I would like to try or things I would like to learn so I have something to look back on if I need ideas.
4. Important holidays or dates.
It’s always important to keep up with the big holidays, events, and other dates that are happening every month. I have them in my planner, but putting them in my bullet journal in their own space ensures that I have them all in one place. It’s also useful in case I don’t have my planner within reach and need to know a date or something.
5. Fun quote.
This is another way to have some fun with my bullet journal and just be creative. I like to pick a quote (funny, inspirational, spiritual) to write in a really fun way in my bullet journal. I love doing this because not only is it great in the moment, but I can also look back on it throughout the month.
6. How I feel about the upcoming month.
When I am starting a new month I always like to reflect on how I felt the last month and think about how I feel about the upcoming month. This is something I learned to do in therapy that has really helped me come to terms with my feelings and learning how to express them properly.
8. Monthly memories page.
And lastly, I make a page at the end where I can write down things I want to remember throughout the month. Then I always have something to look back on and know what happened every month. Some months have more than others, but I always try to have at least three to five things on the page every month.
It’s always great to start a new month with a clean space. This month things will take a bit longer since I am preparing to move and I still need to get some boxes and totes to pack my stuff in. But I will be working on cleaning the walls and furniture over the course of the month. I just ordered some magic erasers and cleaner today.
Create A Budget.
I just created my budget for the month today. Having a budget and writing it down is always helpful. It helps me stay on track and not overspend or buy things I don’t need. I spent a lot of money lately trying to get things for my new apartment, but I’m trying not to buy things I don’t really need right now.
I have a journal specifically for writing out things I am grateful for. It may seem a bit excessive, but if I don’t show my gratitude and remember the things I am thankful for then I start to become super negative and hard on myself. So I make a page in my journal for showing gratitude about the previous month and the new month.
I have set up a new routine for this month which is super exciting. Last month I didn’t really have one. But since it’s a new month and I really want to set myself up for success, I am starting a new routine. It will change next month, but this helps me stay motivated and on track which is never a bad thing and is usually the ultimate goal.
